I ? Beijing—Taoranting Park

Taoranting Park, in the southeastern section of the old city, has long been a gathering place for Beijingers. At the center of the 59-acre park is the Taoran Pavilion, first constructed in 1695. Today, the area is popular with local residents who come here for pleasure and boating. The park also contains the resting places of a few famous (and infamous) Beijing residents including star-crossed young lovers, revolutionary Gao Junyu and the writer Shi Pingmei.
