A Fresh Eye on Beijing — The Palace Museum

Two of China’s most famous historic landmarks are joining forces as the Forbidden City hosts an exhibition featuring frescoes and artifacts from the legendary cave complexes in Dunhuang, Gansu. Located in Western China, the Dunhuang area is famous for its grottoes, where travelers, monks, scholars, and hermits left texts, paintings, and statues over several centuries. Lost to time, the caves were re-discovered at the turn of the 20th-century.
