The Global Lunar New Year Zodiac Design Competition is a series of events co-sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Since its inception in 2014, A total of 18,773 design works have been collected from China and abroad, with 245 of those pieces winning accolades, each of which enhanced the understanding and interpretation of Chinese zodiac culture in a unique way, and bolstered the invaluable process of cultural exchange.

This year, the "Happy New Year of the Ox – Virtual Exhibition of Chinese Zodiac Design,” will be presented through online exhibitions, videos, conferences, and more so that our friends across the globe can immerse themselves in the timeless charm of Chinese Zodiac culture and creative design, and will feature some of the winning works from previous years, as well as new pieces from artists commissioned by the Central Academy of Fine Arts. What’s more, the online exhibition will feature a VR component, bringing the whole experience that much closer to home, no matter where you are in the world. The virtual exhibition – which is available in Chinese, English, and French – will be launched at 10:00, Feb 10, 2021.
