I’m In Beijing For Spring Festival

As we close the books on another auspicious week of Chinese New Year festivities, we are reminded of the richly diverse individuals who call Beijing home. From the locals who have raised generations here to the expats who came, only to fall in love with the culture and never leave, each person has a story that contributes to the renowned saga that is Beijing’s past, present, and future. In our series, “I’m In Beijing For Spring Festival,” we profile a small sample of this vibrant tapestry. From Song Yan, the head of Beijing’s Fenglei Peking Opera Troupe to Qiuqiu, an 8-year-old ice hockey player with Olympic dreams and Joshua Dominick, a New York native who found his life’s calling in helping the disabled community enjoy adaptive sports such as cycling, rock climbing, and surfing – each of these individuals shares a little bit about what makes Beijing so special to them, their favorite Spring Festival traditions, and their hopes for the new year.
