Moment In Beijing—Guanfu Museum

While Beijing may be home to some of the world’s finest museums such as the Palace Museum and National Art Museum of China, it boasts plenty of more institutions that are equally packed with culture, charm, and history. Opened in 1996 by renowned Chinese antique collector Ma Weidu, Guanfu Museum specializes in elaborately handcrafted doors, beautifully painted porcelain, elegant tapestries and screens, and ornate bookshelves. Aside from the timeless antiques and furniture, however, Guanfu Museum is also home to around 30 cats, whom Ma “employees” as cat-bassadors to welcome guests.
